Our Association was born on 4th of November, 1998, when an intrepid
group of Sri Lankans led by Don Pathiraja wished to make a difference to our community by preserving the
Sri Lankan identity and its heritage.
Upon its registration, Don Pathiraja became the first President, Melvin Boralessa, the Vice President,
Sanath Sirisena, the Secretary and Vanni Dhanawardana, the Treasurer.

We have two main social events held annually. They are: Sathsara Ravaya and Bakmaha Ulela.
Sathsara Ravaya was held for the first time in 1999 and Bak Maha Ulela in 2000.
While Sathsara Ravaya is an out-door musical event usually held during summer time, Bak Maha Ulela is
an effort to recreate traditional Sinhala New Year Festival as close as possible to what we have
back in our homeland.

Blessings from our Buddhist Temples
Our work is closely knitted with the Buddhist Temples in and around Greater Toronto Area. It is with their
blessings that we conduct Bak Maha Ulela every year.
